Who needs The Onion anymore?

From CNN.com:

"[actress Elizabeth] Taylor, in a message posted on Twitter and verified by CNN, said she declined an invitation to speak because she "cannot be part of the public whoopla."

"I just don't believe that Michael would want me to share my grief with millions of others," Taylor tweeted. "How I feel is between us. Not a public event."

...I just love reading and re-reading that last bit...because tweeting apparently isn't public OR whoopla.




Also, from US Magazine over the weekend, I found out that Jennifer Love Hewitt is writing a relationship advice book (called The Day I Shot Cupid.)

I dunno, I might be crazy here, but if I'm going to take relationship advice, I think I might be looking to get it from a person who's actually had the experience of being in one, prefereably one that's lasted longer than any of my own. (Reports usmagazine.com: "Hewitt has plenty of dating experience." Ha! Okay then. In their minds, dating = relationship success.)

eh, I think there's a difference between releasing a short public statement saying you will be mourning privately and getting involved in a big memorial ceremony. I kind of think Taylor is right. The memorial thing is inevitably going to be in bad taste.

And as for JLH and her advice book, it looks like it's just going to be an advice book. Kind of like luck: everyone's got it, it's just that not all of it is good! ^_~

OH, my god! She said she couldn't share her grief will millions of others, but what is this?! What is THIS:

I keep looking at the photo he gave me of himself which says, "To my true love Elizabeth, I love you forever." And I will love HIM forever.

I can't imagine life without him. But I guess with God's help I'll learn.

I don't think anyone knew how much we loved each other. The purest most giving love I've ever known. Oh god! I'm going to miss him.

It can't be so. He will live in my heart forever but it's not enough. My life feels so empty.

I was packing up my clothes to go to London for his opening when I heard the news. I still can't believe it. I don't want to believe it.

We had so much in common and we had such loving fun together.

My heart...my mind...are broken. I loved Michael with all my soul and I can't imagine life without him


She doesn't need to stand up and say it at the Staples Center, she's saying it all from the convenience of her own home. Whoopla, indeed.

Maybe she thinks Twitter is private, or just between her and friends. I'm not sure my grammy would get it.

Yeah, but she's Liz! What else would you expect?

I think the true reason she's not standing up in front of millions of people is because her health is so terrible and the public is inevitably cruel to former beauty queens who are no longer able to charm and dazzle.

I follow her on Treetie (my phone) and when I read that, I laughed my ass off at the irony. Then I thought maybe it was a fake account, and someone was funnin us?
