On the Keirsey temperament tests, like at www.keirsey.com, how can they tell what temperament type to file historical figures under? I mean, did Gandhi and Martin Luther King fill in a series of little bubbles and have someone look at it and proclaim, "ah-ha! You're a counselor type, an idealist!" Or where they just looking at all the traits they had set out and then decided, "well, someone like Gandhi or M.L. King would really exemplify the type we've labeled "counselor".
And how do they know what percentage of the population falls into which type? I'll bet certain personality types are more curious about things like personality tests, so they should really say "only 5% of people likely to take this test fall into this catagory" instead of "5% of the general population." Somewhere, there is a group of standoffish types refusing to fill in little bubbles.
I saw a vanity license plate last week that had a four-letter personality type on it, I forget which one, and I wondered if that particular temperament wouldn't naturally be more inclined, over other types, to emblazon their vehicle with the results of their Keirsey temperament score.
Humph. Anyways, I get a different result every single time I take the test (every three or four years or so.) I used to be ENTP, now I'm supposed to be ENFP. What the hell??
