One hawk baby, sittin' in the nest...

Actually, there are still three. The other two are just taking a walk out on the ledge, off to the left. Here, Doddy takes a long look at the camera.

Isn't he handsome?

Tomorrow I'll go back and take more pictures from the side of the building, to show you the urban version of their "branching" voyages. Maybe I'll even be lucky enough to catch one of their early flight attempts!

I'm not worried about them, though. If you've watched them stretch and bounce and flex their wings, you know they have really terrific wingspans, by now, with full feathers on their wings. They were born to fly, and they know it, and their bodies are prepared for this. They're ready to go!

Look out, Philadelphia pigeons!

I hope you get some good pictures of them exploring the ledge and I look forward to seeing them. I can't believe how big they've gotten - and so fast! They are almost as big as Mom and Dad now. Only a matter of time before they fly away. I envy you getting to see them in person. Enjoy!

I hope you can get pics of them! P watches them and he's so funny - "they're walking on the ledge - one day we'll check and they'll have just left us for good." I didn't watch them for a week and I'm stunned at how different they are now - and even in the last couple of days it's funny to see their fuzz disappear as the real feathers come in.

This is totally off topic, but I just saw an ad for a new TV show that will be premiering on Memorial Day on A&E and thought you might be interested: Obsessed.
