Like this:

Unrolling little balls of their own leaves from the tip, shooting straight up and out.

The bees are on the moss. I don't know why, but they are.

Swarming all around, each rock along the pond is covered with moss which is, in turn, covered with bees, and I can't tell if they're drinking little droplets of moisture, or eating something.

I took these pictures myself. In fact, these are some of the bees whose honey I eat. I will probably eat honey that comes out of these exact, precise bees.

That's pretty awesome, if you ask me.

Very cool!
When I was growning up a friend of the family had a bee and sheep farm. I thought it was pretty cool at this time and have fond memories of fresh honey comb...now, it think it would be AWESOME to know a source of wool and honey.

I like that uncurling fern. I can picture what it would be like in time lapse photography. :)

Some people eat those fiddle-heads. I've always thought that was sad, which is strange because I eat baby animals without regret.

Some species of fern fiddleheads are edible. I ate some once; rather like asparagus. They're hideously expensive in the shops, though, and if they're not really fresh don't bother.

in boston a few months ago i had "fiddle head fern salad" -- i'd never heard of it before, but it was amazing. it was ... amost meat like. weird. but tasty.

Apparently, these are too fully grown to be eaten. I should have gotten to them a week ago. :(

According to my research, these plants are too far grown to be eaten. Wish I had known about this a week or two ago. :(

(I have no qualms about eating baby plants.)

I'm looking up recipes online...they look delicious.

I wish I had caught these earlier on, when they were still in "fiddlehead" mode.
